    Butterfly Kisses Daygown
    Love and Stitches
    By Debbie Glen

Delicate silken butterflies flutter over the hand embroidered vines on this whisper soft, silky satin batiste....imagine images of elaborate whitework baptismal dresses from the 18th century. English smocks that led designer Debbie Glenn to add channels of smocking to a simple raglan sleeve daygown. A tattered silk motif on a 1920's London flea market find inspired her to transform snippets of 13mm silk ribbon into tiny flights of fancy. Step by step illustrated instruction booklet includes direction for making Silk Ribbon Butterflies, Floral Embroidery and Two Vertical Smocking Plates.

    Shadow Trapunto Baby Bib
    Love and Stitches
    By Debbie Glen

Victorian baby bibs were often very elaborate "to give the wee one a quite dressed up air and hide the useful, non-ornamental necessity (wadding liner) underneath". Padding in the modern version plays dual duty, breathing life into the design and also adding the required absorbency to protect the clothing below. New products and techniques make it possible to create intricate dimensional designs by machine, eliminating much of the time consuming handwork traditionally required. This precious whisper soft Japanese lawn bib with its multi-color pastel relief makes a lovely baby gift sure to delight any new mom. Step-by-step instructional booklet includes direction for recreating Trapunto by Machine, plus floral, boutis bows, and shadow quackers bib motifs.
